About Kokun

Kokun exists for people living away from their usual support network - those moments when life in a new place feels manageable on paper, but harder in practice.

You might have arrived in a new city or country for study or work. You might be living with a host family, relocating with a partner, or starting over somewhere unfamiliar. Often the big logistics are sorted: you have accommodation, a job or a course — but it’s the in-between moments that can catch you off guard.

Setting up a bank account when English isn’t your first language. Figuring out public transport or learning to drive on the other side of the road. Watching a tenancy promising comfort turn out different from reality. Realising you need an emergency contact but your family is halfway across the world.

Those first weeks of loneliness — when you’d give anything for a friendly face who understands what it’s like to be new — are real, common, and often overlooked.

Kokun Companions: the support you wish you had

Kokun connects you with trained local Companions who provide practical guidance and genuine human support during periods of transition. Companions help you navigate unfamiliar systems, think through tricky situations, and feel less alone as you find your footing.

This isn’t about replacing independence. It’s about having a calm, capable person in your corner — the kind of support you’d hope for from family or a trusted friend when yours aren’t nearby.

All Kokun Companions are carefully selected and trained to offer respectful, practical, and confidential support, tailored to where you’re at and what you need.
